SHOPPERS are invited to donate unwanted clothes and shoes to help fight cancer.
Tesco Extra, in Gilesgate Moor, Durham, is hosting a Big Shop and Drop Weekend on October 20 and 21 to support the Stand Up To Cancer campaign and raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Customers are invited to donate unwanted clothes and shoes in store during the event.
Those doing so will get a £5 voucher to redeem against £20 of Tesco clothing.
Deputy store manager Glen Brown donned a sequinned jacket and posed with sparkly stiletto shoes to promote the event, together with store workers Susan Oliver and Ann Skirving, who have both been treated for cancer.
Mr Brown said: “We really hope people in Durham will get involved and drop off clothes and accessories they no longer need when they pick up their groceries.
“Taking part in Tesco’s Big Shop and Drop Weekend is a really easy way to Stand Up To Cancer and help fund vital research into this terrible disease.”
Tesco stores in Hartlepool, Newcastle and Newton Aycliffe will also be taking part.
