AN EAST Durham College student has won the 2012 Face of the North-East crown.
Megan Crombie, who joined the college in Peterlee , County Durham, this year to study a foundation degree in sports and exercise development, took the title in Sunday’s grand final at Durham’s Ramside Hall Hotel.
As well as taking the top prize, Megan also got the award for best personality.
She said: “I was absolutely over the moon completely overwhelmed didn’t think in the slightest I would win.”
Megan will go to Disneyland Paris in November where she will represent the North-East in the Face of Europe competition.
She said: “Winning Face of the North-East means I have qualified to represent the region in Face of Europe in November, which I am extremely proud to be doing.”
The day after her win for Megan started her first day at college.
She said: “I can’t wait to get underway with my studies at the college.
“I chose to take the course at EDC as I had heard a lot of good things about the facilities and the course itself.
“Sport is a huge part of my life and the college seemed like a perfect match for what I wanted to do.”
