AN international expert on space is to discuss whether alien life exists in the universe in a public lecture.
Professor Chris Done, from Durham University’s physics department, is recognised as an international authority on black holes.
She will be guest speaker at a free lecture in the Pennington Room at Grey College, in South Road, Durham, on Sunday, December 11 at 2.15pm on the subject of extra-solar planets and extraterrestrial life.
Prof Done said: "We all love the science fiction, with sentient aliens like Spock, Yoda and the rest, but how do we begin to answer the question "Are alone in the Universe and what might life elsewhere look like?"
Alan Martin, chairman of Grey College Senior Common Room, who has organised the lecture series, said: "The response from members of the public to our ongoing talks has been fantastic, with hundreds coming along, and attendances growing.
"This is a fantastic subject with a brilliant speaker to end the autumn talks and we are always keen to see people who are not necessarily connected with the university."
