A PUBLIC exhibition detailing the nativity has gone on show in north Durham.
The Christmas Story is being told with eight displays at Leadgate Methodist Church on Tyne Road, in Leadgate.
It has been organised by chapel steward Margaret Grey.
Bill Stockdale, who is a member of the congregation, said: "At this time, when everything in the world seems upside down, you need to have a message of hope.
"The hope, because of the Christ child, is for everyone in the world, no matter what their problem is.
"This a the whole story with the true meaning of Christmas, rather than the commercial one."
Over 150 children from primary schools in the area are due to visit today and tomorrow. It is open to the public from 9.30am-4.30pm.
