DARCEY the Border Collie has been crowned Durham’s cutest dog.
The seven-year-old collie was named winner of the Hot Dogs contest, run at The Gates shopping centre, in Durham, by the city’s St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
Her owner, Alastair Tawn, 31, of Framwellgate Moor, won a printed canvas portrait of Darcey from Alan Clarke photography.
Mr Tawn, an operations manager at Northumbrian Water, said: "My wife and I were thrilled that Darcey won Hot Dogs - when we heard about the contest we thought it was a fantastic idea."
Runner up was Buddy, a 20-week-old Burnese Mountain dog, owned by Glenn Richardson.
The contest was run alongside the hospice’s Paws for a Cause sponsored dog walk, which raised £9,000 for the charity.
Participants of Paws for a Cause are encouraged to bring their sponsorship to the hospice by Friday, November 25. For further details, call Laura Barker on 0191-3861170.
