A DOG creche is offering a sanctuary for pets on Bonfire Night - with half the fee going to charity.
Heather Purdy, of HPPL Canine Services in Esh Winning, near Durham City, said: "Dogs do not like fireworks on Bonfire Night and some owners feel they cannot go to displays or have to leave someone at home to look after their pets. We are on an industrial estate and will have music and diversions to keep the dogs happy and relaxed.
"People do not have to be going out to leave their dogs with us - just if they want them out of the way."
Mrs Purdy said half of the proceeds will go to the cystic fibrosis unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, which treated her daughter Charlotte, before she died - four days after her 12th birthday - three years ago. Mrs Purdy said: "We felt we wanted to give a little bit back. They are a fantastic unit."
Mrs Purdy said the service would be offered on Friday, November 4, as well as the following day. Places are limited. To book a place, call Mrs Purdy on 07578-325114.
