MULTI-million pound plans to develop a North-East golf course will be discussed at a public meeting.
Banks Property unveiled its £200m plans for the 93-acre Mount Oswald golf course, on South Road, Durham City, last month.
They include: 16 self-design homes costing millions and coming with up to an acre of land, accommodation for up to 1,000 Durham University students, up to 56 executive homes, up to 250 family homes, converting the Grade II-listed Mount Oswald Manor into apartments and building more apartments on its car park and creating a community facility.
Banks say the proposals represent a very significant investment in the regional economy at a time when few other companies are making such a level of commitment.
However, opponents say the plans are too big and too much green space would be lost.
Roberta Blackman-Woods, Labour MP for Durham City, has called a public meeting to discuss the proposals. It will be held at Durham Johnston School’s sixth form, in Crossgate Moor, Durham, on Thursday, November 3, starting at 7pm.
Dr Blackman-Woods said: "I am really keen to hear residents’ views on the proposals for the site and I would therefore really encourage residents to come along and have their say."
