A PUBLIC meeting is to take place next week to debate the impact of recent cuts to bus services.
Pat Glass MP is to chair the meeting which will take place in the main hall of St Bede’s School, in Lanchester on Friday, October 28 at 6.30pm.
The MP says she called the meeting after a number of concerns were raised by bus users in the Lanchester and Burnhope areas.
The meeting will discuss the impact of the recent bus service reductions in these communities and look at constructive ways to improve the current situation.
Members of the public who have been affected are invited to the meeting, which will also be attended by local parish and county councillors as well as Peter Huntley, managing director of Go North East.
There will also be representatives from the local Area Action Partnership and community groups including Lanchester Lions and Lanchester Partnership.
Among the concerns which have been raised by residents are the reduction of services to and from Durham, particularly on Sundays.
Any members of the public requiring further information about the meeting are asked to contact the MP’s constituency office on 01207 501782.
