SOLICITORS hope to show that where there’s a will there’s a way to raise money for charity.
Throughout July, solicitors from some of the region’s best known practices will be waiving their fees if the client makes a donation to Willow Burn Hospice in their will.
For the second year running, this scheme run by the hospice at Lanchester, has attracted even more of the North East’s legal teams.
Instead of charging clients for preparing simple wills, solicitors from firms including BHP Law, Bennett Richmond and Crutes Law Firm will waive their fees in return for a donation.
Clare Chillingworth, Grants and Legacy Fundraiser for Willow Burn, said: "Last year’s event proved very successful, with many solicitors giving up their valuable time and waiving fees to raise almost £2,000".
The hospice receives just 35 per cent of its funding from government sources, with the brought in through fund raising.
Ms Chillingworth said: "Without the generosity of others and fundraising activities, we couldn’t continue to treasure the lives of everyone who we help and wouldn’t be able to provide the care and palliative support services we do.
All money raised will help Willow Burn continue the free palliative support it provides to improve the quality of life for individuals with life-limiting illness while supporting families and carers.
