THREE youngsters from the same school have competed in a regional disability athletics championships.
The pupils from Belmont School Community Arts College, in Durham City, took part in the North East England Regional Disability Athletics Championships, at Gateshead International Stadium.
Jonny Wilkinson won his 400m sprint in 60.8 seconds. Abbey Anderson won her 100m sprint in 16.4 seconds. Danny Baker won his 100m sprint in 16.2 seconds.
Jonny then won the high jump with a height of 1.35m, the 200m sprint in 28.5 seconds and the 1,500m in five minutes and four seconds.
The youngsters each received a medal, a certificate and a T-shirt and met Paralympian Hazel Robson.
All the winning entries were good enough to see the youngsters qualify for the national championships to be held in Preston in July. They are each waiting to see if they will be chosen to represent the North-East in this competition.
