POLICE are appealing for help tracing the attacker who left a teenager with a fractured jaw.
After punching the 19-year-old to the ground, the attacker left the scene laughing.
The unprovoked attack happened in Durham City centre on April 29, but police have so far been unable to find the culprit.
At around 11pm, the victim, who comes from Sherburn Hill, was standing outside the Mountain Warehouse store talking to some Streetlights volunteers when he was approached by two men.
For no apparent reason, one of the men punched the teenager once, knocking him to the ground and causing several fractures to his jaw, then walked away towards Elvet Bridge laughing.
The victim was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he had an operation to insert metal plates inserted into his jaw.
Police say they want to trace a man in the low cut light grey top, walking next to a man wearing a dark coloured top.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 0345 6060365 and ask for Durham City CID, or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
