A BAND from the North-East is looking forward to playing the main stage of a music festival in the region.
Motion Tourist has secured a spot at the Ignition Festival at Newcastle Racecourse on Sunday August 7.
The Consett-based four piece will be playing alongside Calvin Harris, Feeder, Miles Kane, Echo and the Bunnymen and Ocean Colour Scene.
Singer Michael Bennett, 20, said: "This will be by far the biggest gig we have played.
"Hopefully, it will get us better known in the North-East and further afield."
The band’s second EP, Hearts and Heads, is released on July 4 and features five original songs.
They used to play covers in Consett and Stanley as The Great Escape, but have changed their name to focus on their own brand of alternative indie music.
Inspired by The Smiths, The Cure and Radiohead, they write about people they know and what modern life is like for young people.
Last month, the band played the emerging bands stage at the Evolution festival on Newcastle’s Quayside.
Mr Bennett, who has just completed the first year of a media production degree at Northumbria University, said: "We have really started to develop over the last six months."
