EAST Durham College is offering free courses in construction skills to anyone who is 19 and over and unemployed.
The college’s Technical Academy, at Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate, will also hold a two-day taster course for people aged from 16 to 18, giving people a chance to try out a range of trades including plastering, tiling, plumbing and kitchen and bathroom fitting.
Courses are running throughout the summer.
For the unemployed there is the opportunity to enrol on the 10-week Certificate in Building Craft Occupations course.
The course includes an introduction to a range of building skills including plastering, tiling, joinery, basic plumbing, bricklaying and painting and decorating.
Students on the course will study for 15 hours a week and gain new skills in trades with a good job prospectus.
The 10-week course starts June 20, but there are limited free places, so early enrolment is recommended. The two-day course will start on the same date and future courses will be ongoing.
To find out more or enrol on either course contact The Technical Academy on 0191-518 5577 or visit www.thetechnicalacademy.co.uk
