A CHARITY football match will be held in aid of a city hospice next week.
The match between the Gilesgate Moor Hotel and the Three Horse Shoes, both pubs in Gilesgate, Durham City, will raise money for Durham’s St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
The event is being organised by John Appleby, in memory of his mother Jennifer Appleby, who benefited from care at the hospice before she died of cancer last year, aged 60.
St Cuthbert’s Hospice provides day and overnight care for people with life limiting illnesses across north Durham.
Mr Appleby said he could not thank the hospice enough for its support.
He first staged a charity match last year and hopes it will now become an annual event.
This year’s match will be held at Laurel Avenue, on Sherburn Road Estate, Durham, on Sunday, June 19. Kick off is 10.30am.
There will be entertainment, including a bouncy castle and barbecue, afterwards at Belmont Working Men’s Club.
Entry is free but donations would be welcome. For more information, call Mr Appleby on 07960-241576.
