A CADET squadron has moved into a new headquarters.
The 234 City of Durham Air Cadets squadron has moved into a newly refurbished annex behind the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (RFCA) building, on Old Elvet, in Durham City.
To mark the move, cadets marched to the new HQ from their previous home, behind the Travelodge in Gilesgate.
The squadron was formed in February 1941 and had been in Gilesgate since 1982.
Their new facility has four classrooms, a computer suite and more space.
As a result, the squadron not only hopes to maintain its excellent reputation but is recruiting again.
Cadet Warrant Officer Emma Tate, 19, said: "I am so excited for us to finally move into the new building. The facilities are fantastic and we have lots of space for new cadets."
Cadet Cameron Milburn, 15, said: "We’ve been hoping to get a new building for a long time and now we’ve got it, it’s brilliant."
Commanding officer Flight Lieutenant Liz Green said: "I am extremely proud of the new building and I know the cadets will have many great experiences here."
Cadets take part in a wide range of activities and work towards Duke of Edinburgh’s awards and BTEC qualifications. The Durham squadron is open to boys and girls aged 13 to 18.
