A FITNESS group in north Durham is looking for more members to help people live healthy lives.
Consett Exercise Class opened eight years ago so that people who had heart problems and needed a carefully tailored programme of exercise could find it locally instead of having to trail through to Durham.
It was not just for people with heart problems, though, and has always welcomed all-comers.
John Hope, one of its original founders, said: "Years ago after heart attacks people sat about and did very little, now the opposite applies and exercise is very important.
"I’d just like everyone to be able to share the experience."
No-one will ever know how many heart attacks it may have warded off, but now the group has shrunk and is looking for new members.
The class has an instructor who works for the NHS and holds British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation qualifications.
For £2 per week she takes members through an hour of cardiovascular aerobic exercise, using exercise bikes, steppers and weights.
The group welcomes people of any age, shape or size who are looking to keep trim or get back into shape.
Call 01207-506952 to find out more, or call at Christ Church Hall, Consett any Wednesday at 7pm.
