CHILDREN are enjoying a range of new playground equipment, following a parents’ fund-raising campaign.
Parents at Newton Hall Infants’ School, in Durham City, raised more than £3,000 for new equipment through the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) by holding events such as fairs, discos and coffee afternoons.
The school has now taken delivery of a clattering bridge, rope walk and stepping logs.
Headteacher Jennifer Jackson said: "Our children love the new play equipment and it is amazing to see how skilfully they move around on it.
"It is also great for children socialising and chatting together at the same time as keeping fit and being active at playtime."
Over the last three years, funds raised through the PTA have allowed the school to buy laptops, furniture, microscopes, binoculars and two bicycle racks.
The next fund-raising event is the school’s summer fair, planned for Saturday, July 2.
