A TEAM of twenty people from the North-East are doing a coast to coast cycle ride.
Ten year nine pupils from Stanley School of Technology are being joined by teachers and police officers to ride from Whitehaven to Sunderland.
The 135 mile trip is being carried out over four days from next Tuesday to Friday.
Teacher Gary Jude, who runs the school’s intervention programme, said: "We have been doing lots of training rides like 20 miles at night after school so I am ready.
"The kids cannot wait either. They have responded really well and never missed a training session."
The ride has been organised with Durham Constabulary’s Eddy Project and Durham Agency Against Crime.
It has been financed using school funds and sponsorship.
Organisers also hope to have raised over £200 for children’s charities.
