EXOTIC cookery and ethically-traded crafts will be on sale at a World Village Market to be staged next week.
The four-day market gets underway on Thursday, June 2 in the Market Place, Durham, the first event of its kind in the city.
There will be a feast of foods, from Thai noodles to Spanish paella and Greek olives to French cheeses, as well as handmade, eco–friendly arts, crafts, clothing, jewellery, accessories and ideas from all over the world.
Paul Kennedy of organisers, The Market Square Group, said: "Britain has one of the world’s richest food cultures with dishes from India, Thailand, the Caribbean, South America and Europe providing ingredients to our nation’s staple diet.
"The World Village Market will feature many of these dishes and enable visitors to learn more about the cultures behind them and, of course, there will be some local produce on offer too."
During the event, there will also be a number of craft demonstrations and live music, including bongo workshops.
