A COMMUNITY theatre group will be hoping audiences are left wanting more when they stage Oliver next weekend.
Stanley Variety Troupe will stage their own pantomime-style version of the musical at the Lamplight Arts Centre on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 at 7pm each night.
Younger members of the cast, which ranges in age from five to 65, have put a contemporary twist on the Victorian tale.
Mary Telford, Stanley Variety Troupe committee member, said: "We always encourage the younger members of the group to get involved in the show’s development.
"It’s not just about them coming along to rehearsals, performing a dance or singing a song, but about having their voices heard through other elements of the production as well."
Members have staged a series of fund raising events over recent months, including sponsored walks and car boot sales to raise money to pay for the costumes and staging of the show.
Tickets, priced £5, are available from the Box Office on 01207 218899.
Anyone interested in being involved in the group’s next production of Alice In Wonderland, should ring 0191 3703212.
Anyone over the age of five, from absolute beginners to accomplished dancers and actors, is welcome.
