A SCHOOL girl has won her mother a makeover in a shopping centre contest.
Lauren Vasey, ten, won the Put Mum in the Picture contest at the Prince Bishops shopping centre, in Durham.
The competition challenged youngsters aged eight to ten from across Durham to draw a picture of their mother.
Lauren, from Browney Primary School, won a bike and a digital camera.
Her mother, Debbie Vasey, 58, from Brandon, won a makeover at Boots, a hair cut at Toni and Guy and new clothes from Monsoon.
Mrs Vasey said: "Lauren called from school to say she had won and she was so excited. I just cried. I am really proud of her.
"I haven’t had a makeover or pamper in years, so it has been really nice. I felt like a million dollars."
The winner was chosen by Councillor Mamie Simmons, the Mayor of Durham. Runner-up was Jessica Wright, ten, while third place went to Miguel Yasis, aged nine.
