A CEREMONY to mark the start of work to revamp a public park in Stanley, takes place next week.
It will kick-start the re-development of the Memorial Park, in South Moor.
The scheme will see new recreational facilities added, including a picnic area and skate park, plus enhanced 'green space', including development of a wildlife habitat.
Entrances will be improved to make access easier from the surrounding footpath network.
The project has won the backing of the Groundwork Trust North-East, supported by Durham County Council and led by South Moor Partnership.
It has received funding from the council, backed by grants from the Big Lottery Fund through its Community Spaces Programme.
The groundbreaking ceremony takes place on Monday, at 1pm.
