RESIDENTS are holding a public meeting with police and council officials to discuss problems that plague their area.
The Central Residents Association in Chester-le-Street has been campaigning for some time for action against late night noise, nuisance and litter caused by revellers heading home from the pub or club.
The meeting will be held on Thursday (January 27) between 6 and 7pm at Chester-le-Street Cricket Club, Mains Park Road.
It is hoped local police officers and officials from Durham County Council’s environmental health, licensing and planning departments will attend.
Association chairman Derek Briggs said it followed a meeting last year that highlighted problems including parking and late opening hot food takeaways.
He added: "The aim is to try to sort out from the last meeting where we have gone and what the agencies are doing.’’ Everyone is welcome to attend.
