A RESIDENTS’ group has enlisted the help of local school to help them design a new logo to represent them.
Thornley Residents Group have been up and running for just over a year and wanted a logo to show the community what they represent. Instead of going to a graphic designer, they involved children from Thornley Primary School and ran a mini competition for the children to design the logo. Sixty one children designed a logo and entered into the competition. The standard was high and Paul Tanney, East Durham Homes Chief Executive judged the competition. The overall winner was Niall Jones aged 9, while the two runners-up were Charlotte Elcoat 10 and Dylan Hanson aged, seven.
Paul Tanney and Marion Brunskill, Chair of Thornley Residents Group presented the winners with gift vouchers.
Paul Tanney, East Durham Homes Chief Executive said: "The standard of logos was really high and the children had put a lot of thought into the designs. "Judging them was quite difficult and I was looking for a design that could represent how the residents group wants to get all the community involved to improve the area."
