THE annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal collections raised £14,935 in the Durham City area, last autumn.
The figure was the amount raised from shops with collecting tins, particularly Tesco’s store at Dragonville, which had a special poppy stall, plus various street collections during the run in to Remembrance Sunday, in November.
Appeal organiser Eamonn Loftus thanked everyone who helped with collections, particularly members of 234 (City of Durham) Squadron of the Air Training Corps, and all those who contributed.
