WORLD champion gymnasts are urging the region’s children to drink tap water to help them spring into shape.
Deerness Valley Gymnastics Club, in County Durham, has teamed up with Northumbrian Water to promote the health benefits of drinking tap water.
Head coach Karl Wharton said: "We appreciate just how important hydration is to sporting stars and success.
"Our girls and boys know that drinking plenty of water helps them to perform better and they’re passing on the message loud and clear to other youngsters in the North-East."
The young athletes are currently training for the British Championships in March, which are used as a selection process for the European Championships.
Coaches hope around 15 of the children will make the Great Britain team and represent their country in Bulgaria later this year.
Jane Morland, from Northumbrian Water, said: "These kids are fantastic gymnasts. It’s clear their hard work, dedication and healthy lifestyles have paid off.
"We’re delighted to be supporting them and wish them every success at the upcoming British Championships."
