COMMUNITY arts projects are being invited to bid for up to £500 in funding.

Durham County Council is offering the cash in the latest phase of its Arts Development Small Grants scheme.

The money is available to community and voluntary organisations, social enterprise schemes, arts groups, parish and town councils and professional artists working on community-based projects.

Applicants must be based in County Durham and their project should be for the direct benefit of people living in the county.

A series of advice sessions is planned. The sessions, all from 4pm to 6.30pm, will be held at: County Hall, Durham, on Wednesday, January 26; Crook Civic Centre on Thursday, January 27; Newton Aycliffe leisure centre on Monday, January 31; and Annfield Plain library on Thursday, February 1.
