A COLLEGE is hosting a special Burns Night supper later this month.
Joe Keenan, head chef lecturer at East Durham College, said the team at the Peterlee college’s Scene1 restaurant were enjoying preparing for the themed evening.
Mr Keenan, who was born in Glasgow, is also head chef at Newcastle Falcons rugby club.
He previously worked on the openings of the Barcelona, Madrid, Glasgow and Edinburgh Hilton Hotel restaurants and owned the Centurion Inn, in Langley Park, near Durham, which was named in The Good Food Guide’s national top five destinations for 10 years.
Catering student Jenifer Malkin, 17, said: "It’s great to learn from a chef as good as Joe - he’s an inspiration. I’m really looking forward to the Burns Night event."
A three-course Burns Night meal at Scene1 on Thursday, January 27, will cost £12.95. Tables are available from 7pm. To book, call 0191-5188302.
