HIGH-achieving pupils at a Durham City school have been rewarded for their efforts.

Youngsters who recently completed Key Stage 3 at Framwellgate School Durham were presented with awards at a celebration event.

Among the winners were: Emma Andrews, Cheryl Vasey Cup - a special award for overall best effort and behaviour; and Macauley Smith, Ross Bryden Memorial Award - a special award for an exceptional character.

Jessica Hay was named most hard working student; Rory Naisbitt won the most improved behaviour prize; Mohammad Daftari was named most organised student; Jordy Shelton received the most improved attendance award; and James Dewhirst won the most improved punctuality prize.

Lisa Ingleby, the school’s director of personalised learning, said: "The purpose of this celebration event is to recognise student academic achievements and their contributions to the wider aspects of the school.

"It is intended to mark their transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 and give them motivation and encouragement as they embark upon their GCSEs."
