CHILDREN baptised in recent years are invited to a special christening celebration at a village church on Saturday.

St Andrew’s Methodist Church, in Coxhoe, near Durham, is staging the special children’s party for children who have been baptised, not necessarily at the church, in recent years.

It will include party games and refreshments, while the children will be invited into the church’s worship area to see a re-enactment of a baptism and a short act of blessing.

The Remember Your Baptism Party takes place at St Andrew’s, in Church Street, from 2 to 3.30pm.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, with a £2 fee per family, including parents.

All proceeds will be donated to the Action for Children charity.

The church minister, the Reverend Jenny Pryde, saud: "We’re keen to provide opportunities for local children to explore their faith in new and exciting contexts.

"We hope this will be the first of many similar events for families in this area."

The Rev Pryde is happy to give further details to anyone interested in attending the party, on 0191-377 0230.
