YOUNG people in East Durham will soon be able to hone their heelflips and sharpen their bigspins at a new development.
Skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX riders will be able to take advantage of a new skatepark being built in Seaham Town Park. Construction on the park started earlier this year with completion expected for this Easter.
The skatepark is part of a larger £400,000 scheme, and is being funded by the East Durham Area Action Partnership working in partnership with Seaham Town Council.
Funding amounting to £150,000 from six county councillors in Seaham has been the catalyst for the larger scheme to take place.
Councillor Eddie Bell from East Durham Area Action Partnership, said: "Activities for young people are really important – both for young people and the whole community alike.
"This new development will be a great resource for local people to get involved in new activities, develop new skills and keep healthy."
