A GOVERNMENT minister is to meet new mothers at an event next week.
Maria Eagle MP, minister for justice and deputy minister for women, will join local MP Hilary Armstrong at the event in St Patrick’s Church Hall, Consett on Thursday, February 4.
There will be a free buffet lunch, starting at 11.30am, for women with children under the age of five at which 75 free Bounty packs, containing nappies and other baby products, will be given away.
Also attending the event will be Carol Newsom, Senior Manager for Sure Start across Derwentside.
Lunch will be followed by a question and answer session, along with guest speakers. The event has been organised to allow mothers with young children the chance to give their views on how services could better respond to their needs.
Everyone attending will be entered into a free prize draw - with the chance to win £50 of John Lewis vouchers.
