COMEDIAN Brendan Healy will be the among the entertainers at a gentlemen’s dinner to raise money for a hospice.

The black tie event takes place at Ramside Hall Hotel, in Durham City, on Friday, May 7 in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice.

Around 250 local businessmen are expected to attend the three-course dinner, which will include a raffle and auction.

Guest speaker and Master of Ceremonies, Willie Miller, will also be on hand to entertain and look after proceedings.

Hospice fund raiser Rachel Jobson said: "We decided to hold the Gentlemen’s Dinner as we wanted to put on something special for our male supporters, following the success of our annual ladies’ Midnight Walk.

"We are really excited to launch the Gentlemen’s Dinner and we hope that groups of colleagues and friends will get together and reserve a table in support of their local hospice."

Last year, more than 100 local men with life-limiting illnesses stayed at St Cuthbert's Hospice while more than 250 men men from Durham and the surrounding areas visited St Cuthbert's Hospice for day care and outpatient appointments.

The hospice must raise £4,000 every single day in order to meet their annual running costs.
