A SOCIAL landlord in east Durham is encouraging residents to join a new action group aimed at making their community a better place to live.
Accent Foundation, which owns 101 properties in Easington Colliery, has invited residents from the village’s C Streets, Station Road and surrounding areas to the first meeting of its Resident Action Group.
The group, supported by newly-appointed Community co-ordinator Michael Fishwick will look at housing, environmental improvements, job support and tackling anti-social behaviour.
The meeting will be held on in Easington Colliery Methodist Church, Seaside Lane at 2pm on Tuesday (Jan26).
The event will be attended by a Police Community Support Officer and Accent Customer Services manager Mark Brown.
Mr Fishwick said: "There are some excellent community groups working hard to improve Easington Colliery.
"I want the Resident Action Group to add to these efforts and to make some real improvements around the C Streets and Station Road.
"Anyone visiting Easington Colliery's stretch of Heritage Coast will see how much the community has improved in recent years but there's still a lot to do to improve the environment, housing and help people into work."
