THREE people were taken to hospital last night after a car crashed into railings in Newcastle.
Fire crews were called to Scotswood Road at 9.29pm.
The driver had managed to free himself from the car, but the front and rear seat passengers were trapped and had to be cut free by firefighters, who also gave them first aid and oxygen at the scene.
A spokesman for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said they were both taken to Newcastle General Hospital suffering from suspected back injuries, and cuts to their heads and legs.
The driver was also taken to hospital for a precautionary check.
