A KENNELS is seeking new homes for two strays that have been over-looked by potential owners for better looking dogs.
Vicky, a three-year-old crossbreed, and Walter, an 18-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, have both been at Deerness Kennels, Langley Moor, near Durham City, for four months after being picked up as strays.
They have become the longest-staying residents and have seen countless other dogs leave to start new lives with new owners.
Now the kennels is hoping that 2010 will bring about a positive change for the unwanted duo.
"They have been overlooked at Christmas and we are trying to find homes for them,’’ said volunteer Angela Taylor.
"There are prettier looking dogs. They are not the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt of the dog world.
"People go for the lookers rather than the sweetest natured dogs.
"Actually, Vicky is quite a pretty thing, I think, but Walter isn’t exactly pretty but he has the loveliest nature.’’ Both animals have been vaccinated, neutered, wormed, flea-ed and microchipped.
The kennels, in Mill Road, has rescued more than 2,000 dogs in the last three years.
Anyone interested in either of them a home can call the kennels on 0191-378 0439 or e-mail info@strayaction.com
