A NORTH-EAST businesswoman has won a national competition after reducing her energy consumption by 40 per cent in just 90 days.
Lesley Roberts of Newcastle has scooped the E.ON Watt Watchers competition after taking up the challenge to demonstrate her household’s commitment to leading a greener way of life by making small changes - and shedding pounds from her energy bill in the process. Ms Roberts, who competed with four other finalists from around the UK, will get a £1,000 cash prize from E.ON. During the competition, Ms Roberts had an energy audit of her home carried out by E.ON’s Green Queen, Emma Thompson, who was also involved in the judging of the competition with television presenter Melinda Messenger.
Ms Roberts said: "Watt Watchers has been a fantastic experience for me. I’ve made a massive effort to be more energy efficient and have genuinely enjoyed my journey towards a greener future."
She kept a blog over the course of her Watt Watching journey, where she shared her experiences and energy saving secrets, at www.eonenergy.com/wattwatchers.
