A LEISURE centre is offering amateur badminton players the chance to compete in a national championship.
Sherburn Leisure Centre, in Sherburn Village, near Durham, has signed up to the No Strings national leisure centre badminton championships, which gives non-league players the opportunity to test their skills against others from across the country.
Centre manager Lesley Tindale said: "We have a thriving badminton playing community here at Sherburn so this seemed a great opportunity.
"Lots of people would like to have a go at competitive play but without all the pressure.
"No Strings is for amateurs of any level who have never played league badminton but would like to take on other enthusiasts playing at a similar level.
"Competition is proven to increase interest, motivation and skill levels, but I also think many people will find it great fun."
Entry forms are available from Sherburn Leisure Centre. The deadline for entries is Friday, January 15.
The competition will be held at Sherburn Leisure Centre on Saturday, February 27.
