A YOUTH brass band has won sponsorship from a supermarket distribution depot.
The West Pelton Community Brass Band has 130 members aged six to 18 from seven schools in West Pelton, Pelton, Ouston and Chester-le-Street.
The band, which is proving a popular attraction, has been given 40 grey polo shirts for members to wear at some concerts by the revamped Co-op depot at Drum Lane, Birtley.
The band has been going since 2007 and polo shirts are worn at some of the concerts it performs.
Treasurer Norman Baker said he was pleased with the donation and that the garments would bear the Co-op logo on the back and the band’s on the front.
