THE twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be marked in the region next week.
Durham County Council’s international relations team and Europe Direct North East are inviting residents and visitors to mark the occasion in Durham City on Monday, November 9.
Professor Michael Bohlander, from Durham University’s law department, will give a talk titled: What belongs together grows together: being a West German judge in East Germany after unification.
Prof Bohlander is from West Germany but moved to East Germany in 1991.
The talk will be held in room 143 at Elvet Riverside, Durham, from 3.15pm.
From 6pm, the Gala Theatre will host a German cafe, where guests can try German food and practice their language skills.
From 7.30pm, the film Goodbye Lenin will be screened at the Clayport Library. Seats are free but must be reserved by calling 0191-386-4003.
