A BUSY road is to be closed between rush hours for resurfacing work.
Fellside Road, which links Burnopfield, near Stanley, in County Durham, with Whickham, in Gateshead is a busy commuter route leading to Tyneside, is to have a series of off-peak road closures between Sunday, October 25 and Friday, October 30.
The closures will also allow electronic traffic sensors to be installed within the road surface as part of the improvements to the junction of Fellside Road and Front Street, to reduce waiting times at the junction by allowing the traffic lights to respond to traffic flows more efficiently.
The road will be closed to traffic between 9:45am and 4pm each day whilst the work is carried out. A range of diversions will be available via Broadway and Oakfield Road.
