CHILDREN are invited to nominate their school’s lollipop man or woman as the best in the country.
Nominations close for the Lollipop Person of the Year award 2009 at the end of October.
Last year’s North-East winner was Eric Allen, from St Oswald’s Church of England Aided Infant and Nursery School, in Durham.
The annual competition is run by Kwik Fit Insurance. This year, more than 6,000 entries have already been received. Twelve regional winners will receive £500 worth of holiday vouchers and each of the 12 schools will get £100 worth of book tokens.
The national winner will get a free holiday and their school will receive £3,000 for new equipment.
Brendan Devine, from Kwik Fit Financial Services, said: "There are unsung heroes all over the UK helping our children to and from school safely and I want to put out the message today that it’s not too late for schools across the North-East region to nominate."
