ABBA, The Spice Girls and Beyonce were among the star acts as a care home staged its own X Factor contest.
Pelton Grange Care Home, near Chester-le-Street, held its own version of the hit TV show, featuring tribute acts and a judging panel made up of resident Doris Theobald, relative Margaret Fullerton and home administrator Margaret Flower.
Among the most emotional moments was when resident Sarah Atkinson performed White Cliffs of Dover with deputy home manager Chris Hogan-Mind.
Sarah was originally going to duet with fellow resident Muriel Henderson, who sadly passed away in November, so the song was dedicated in her memory.
Manager Les Burnett, who appeared as ‘Pelton John’, said: “Seeing the residents faces as they enjoyed the singing was priceless”.
He added: “It was also fabulous to see how many family members came to share in the fun.”
