DURHAM Cathedral is encouraging visitors to explore its surrounds through art with an experimental drawing workshop.

This workshop offers visitors the opportunity to work alongside experienced artist and art teachers to create images in a wide variety of styles.

Participants will be encouraged to express their perception and emotions of Durham cathedral through the medium of drawing.

Charlotte Rowbotham, head of education at Durham Cathedral, said: “We are proud of our continuous support of the arts and are happy to welcome artists of all levels of experience to explore our beautiful cathedral through art.

“We we cannot wait to see what wonderful artwork they create”.

The workshop from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday includes a guided tour detailing the contemporary art work that is currently on display in the cathedral.

Basic material and equipment will be available during the workshop. Before and after the workshop there will be designated drawing spaces available in the cathedral to allow work for independent drawing.
