THE DURHAM Choral Society and the NASWT Riverside Band are join forces once again to present an evening of festive music to get people into the Christmas Spirit.
The event at Elvet Methodist Church, in Durham City, at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 20, has become an annual fixture.
Both Durham Choral Society and the NASUWT Riverside Band perform a mixture of traditional carols, excerpts from Messiah and brass band music, and encourage the audience to participate for part of the concert.
As always, proceeds from the concert will be donated to two charities.
This year the choir have chosen The Seaham Banner Fund which preserves miners’ banners. Members of the Seaham Banner fund supported a concert in May 2014 by parading the Dawdon Colliery Banner as part of the performance.
The groups also support the Elvet Methodist Church Project, which for this year is The South Tyneside Churches KEY Project which supports young, homeless people.
Tickets are £7 (£3.50 for the under 18s) and can be bought in advance at the Gala Theatre Box Office or online from www.wegottickets.com or on the door from 7pm.
