A NEW east Durham venue is giving visitors an early Christmas present – with a free event full of seasonal spirit.
Seaham Town Hall, at Station Road, has recently undergone a £1m development which includes the creation of rooms suitable for everything from conferences to celebrations.
And to mark the new resource for the town it will be transformed to a magical Christmas wonderland at an event being held between noon and 3pm, on Sunday December 7.
Youngsters will be able to enjoy a visit to Santa’s grotto and meet his costumed reindeer, along with the opportunity to have their faces painted.
There will also be a selection of other characters to get guests in the festive spirit, including Snow White and an icy princess from one of the children’s favourite films.
Anyone still trying to get through their Christmas shopping will also be able to buy from a range of food and craft stalls, with live entertainment and refreshments also on offer.
A number of tables will also be set up with various decorations, to allow visitors to see the options available should they wish to book an even.
The day has been organised by Oldfields Events, which runs the catering and events at the town hall.
Bill Oldfield, managing director of Oldfields Events, said: “Christmas is one of the best times of the year and this event promises to really get visitors in the festive spirit.
“The day will not only give families a great day out but it will also showcase the fantastic facilities at Seaham Town Hall."
