SHOPPERS will be served up a slice of tennis this weekend (July 4-6).
Bosses at the Prince Bishops shopping centre, in Durham City, are inviting visitors to a specially set up VIP marquee to watch all the action from Wimbledon live.
The event will run from Friday until Sunday, showing all matches scheduled for those days including the men’s and women’s singles finals.
Richard Toynbee, the centre manager, said: “Our Wimbledon weekender is a great addition to the various events we run here.
“We’re always looking for different things to do and what with Wimbledon being one of the highlights of the sporting calendar we thought we’d bring some of its glamour to Durham.”
The event, supported by the Whisky River bar, runs from noon to 8pm each day and there will be Pimms, Moet Champagne and strawberries available throughout.
Kate Shepherd, joint owner of Whisky River, said: “We’re really looking forward to serving up some Wimbledon style hospitality this weekend.
“We’re inviting people to come down, take a break from shopping, sit back and relax and enjoy the excitement of the Wimbledon finals.”
