AN opticians marked its anniversary by inviting one of its first customers to come back to the store.
Doreen Summers was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a free pair of glasses from Specsavers in Chester-le-Street to mark its 10th birthday.
The Front Street store also donated 10p for every £10 spent by customers and raised £206 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Durham.
Customers also had the opportunity to win a pair of designer specs by guessing the number of recycled glasses in a jar. Unwanted specs from customers are collected and regularly sent to Vision Aid Oversees.
Store manager Ross McLachlan said: “We have been serving the people of the town for a decade now. It’s hard to believe we have celebrated our 10th birthday as time really has gone past so quickly.
“We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and during our birthday celebrations.
“We are delighted to raise this amount of money for St Cuthbert’s Hospice , which was a lovely way to mark our decade in Chester-le-Street”.
