DURHAM County Council will resume garden waste collections from Tuesday, March 18. Residents who are part of the scheme will receive a leaflet detailing their collection dates, which are also available online at durham.gov.uk. Householders are advised to put their garden waste bin out by 7am. Small branches, flowers, leaves, grass cuttings, weeds, prunings and hedge clippings can be placed straight into the bins. Moves to introduce charges for collecting garden waste have been delayed until next year.
WALLING COURSE: A new dry stone walling course is to begin at East Durham College’s Houghall campus, near Durham City. The course will be run by master craftsman Ewan Allinson in March and will be priced £140 for one day, or £265 for two. All materials and equipment will be provided.
