A MAN is expected to stand trial later this year over an alleged ear-biting incident outside a night club.
Adam Douglas Hill is alleged to have bitten off part of another man’s ear in a confrontation near the K2 night spot, in John Street, Consett, County Durham.
Twenty-five-year-old Mr Hill appeared at Durham Crown Court today (Thursday February 27) charged with wounding with intent, stemming from the incident in the early hours of Friday, October 18 last year.
Although no plea was taken, Shaun Dryden, prosecuting, said he understood the matter, “would be contested”, and so a provisional date for the start of the anticipated two-day trial was agreed with defence counsel Yvonne Taylor, in the week beginning Monday, June 2.
Judge Christopher Prince adjourned the hearing and bailed Mr Hill, of Cutler’s Hall Road, Shotley Bridge, near Consett, to return to the court for a plea and case management hearing, on Friday, April 25.
